What these numbers don’t show

With a MAN 18.520 and a Krone Profi-liner trailer, after rent, fuel, tolls and the admin fee you keep roughly 3 021 € at 10 000 km a month, 4 385 € at 12 000 km and 5 068 € at 13 000 km. That is margin before tax. All three columns come off one set of rates: 1.33 € of freight per kilometre, roughly 0.268 l of fuel per kilometre at 1.41 € a litre, and 0.27 € of tolls per kilometre. The 3 250 € rent is the whole set — a MAN 18.520 tractor and a Krone Profi-liner trailer; another make changes it by the price list, and the deposit is paid separately. The margin is before tax: your own income tax and social and health contributions come out of it. And the table has no line for standing in a queue to load, a breakdown, a fine or a quarantine. The first month is usually weaker while you get used to the routes and the paperwork — which is why you should ask our drivers and not only us.
